Job Descriptions
Mingo Trails Leadership Development Staff
Scout
Executive/Director
- Prepare Annual
District Calendar with Training dates.
- Support Training
sessions.
- Assist with Course
location selection, paperwork and arrangements.
- Process Training
records.
- Process Training
awards.
- Assist with obtaining
Training supplies and copies as needed.
- Must be able to
train and communicate effectively.
- May be tapped as
a Trainer.
- Supplies Training
reports and statistics to District Chair.
District
Chair
- Organize a District
Training Committee.
- Recruit Training
Chairs for the major specialties: Boy Scout, Cub Scout, Health and Safety,
Venturing, JLT(D) and others as needed.
- Support Training
Chairs.
- Work with Executive
and Chairs to prepare annual course schedule.
- Announces Training
Opportunities at Roundtables
- Attends District
Committee meetings
- Maintains list
of District Qualified Trainers for all specialties.
- Prioritizes District
Training needs.
- Assist with recruiting
new Trainers.
- Attends Council
Leadership Development meetings.
- Hold District Leadership
Development meetings several times a year.
- Responsible for
assessing quality of training, adjusting as necessary.
- Assures that teaching
is conducted using the official BSA Syllabi.
- Must be qualified
as "Trained" in at least one specialty.
- Must be able to
train and communicate effectively.
- Must have attended
a Leadership Development Conference or The Trainers EDGE.
- Recommends District
Wood Badge Scholarship recipient to Council.
- Support Wood Badge
as needed.
- Works with other
Districts to support the overall Council Training Program.
- Assists other Districts
or Councils with Training needs if required.
- Approves all District
Training Awards and recognitions.
- Maintains Training
Records for District, ensures that all Training records are sent to
Council for processing.
Boy
Scout Training Chair
- Must be qualified
as "Trained" in their teaching specialty.
- Must be able to
train and communicate effectively.
- Maintains staff
of Qualified Trainers.
- Monitors training
conducted to assure that material in BSA syllabus is followed.
- Must have attended
a Leadership Development Conference or The Trainers EDGE.
- Works with other
Districts to put on Outdoor Skills Course.
- Work with District
Chair and Executive to select course locations.
- Maintains Training
Records for specialty, passes onto District Chair for processing.
Cub
Scout Training Chair
- Must be qualified
as "Trained" in their teaching specialty.
- Must be able to
train and communicate effectively.
- Maintains staff
of Qualified Trainers.
- Support Council
courses such as BALOO.
- Must have attended
a Leadership Development Conference or The Trainers EDGE.
- Monitors training
conducted to assure that material in BSA syllabus is followed.
- Maintains Training
Records for specialty, passes onto District Chair for processing.
- Work with District
Chair and Executive to select course locations.
Venture
Training Chair
- Must be qualified
as "Trained" in their teaching specialty.
- Must be able to
train and communicate effectively.
- Maintains staff
of Qualified Trainers.
- Must have attended
a Leadership Development Conference or The Trainers EDGE.
- Monitors training

ALL material in the BSA Syllabus.
- Agrees to stay
current on subject being taught.
