A TRIBUTE to Uncle Ern!

Why I'm a Leader - Author Unknown

Uncle Ern, no one has ever cared more for our children. Thank you for all you have given to the thousands of lives you have touched through your love and kindness. We will miss you!

Refrain

Here’s to Uncle Ernie, the dedicated Scout

Whenever he would show up, the boys all gave a shout.

Who’d have thought in Scouting, that you could make a dif,

Passing out confections made of Domino and Jif?

(Sing refrain)

Ahoy to Uncle Ernie, a Scouter of the sea.

That is how he started, his Scouting odyssey.

We’re glad he finally came ashore and didn’t raise a fuss,

When he became just a plain old landlubber like us.

(Sing refrain)

The camper, Uncle Ernie, was at summer camp each week.

Whenever one or two of us were there he’d stop to speak.

He was always welcome and he never held a grudge

If you couldn’t tell which we liked more: Ernie or the fudge!

(Sing refrain)

The Scouter Uncle Ernie, to banquets he would go

To blue and golds and Eagle courts, to catch the Scouting show.

His words of wisdom he’d impart, how good he made us feel.

And of course he never was the type to pass up a free meal!

(Sing refrain)

Alas for Uncle Ernie, our dear departed Scout.

Who’d have thought a heart that big could one day just give out?

He has a place in heaven but they’ll have to show restraint.

That fudge will put ten pounds on all the angels and the saints!
